Youth Enrichment Program

History

Many of the issues plaguing our community result from the lack of opportunities for our youth to be involved with positive, difference-making projects. The Mission launched the Youth Enrichment Program in 2019 as an effort to create a space for students to learn about servant leadership and how to effectively lead by example. In partnership with Communities in Schools TN, a small group of young ladies at the Hancock County High School were chosen based on their dedication to learning ways to better themselves, with the ultimate intent of using that to help and serve others. This group has come to be known as "Girls on a Mission." In the fall of 2023, a boys' group was also established to accomplish similar goals, while specifically encouraging Biblical manhood and leadership.

Projects

Service projects are planned with very intentional goals for the students to gradually learn how to plan, implement, and evaluate their efforts. It's important to give a space for them to be creative and have fun, while also maintaining an atmosphere of accountability and responsibility toward their community, specifically those being served through each project.

Regular Meetings

Small group meetings are structured to cultivate individual relationships to allow for discipleship, while also educating students on issues that directly impact their daily lives. These meetings are used to plan and implement service projects, complete educational training sessions, have small group counseling meetings, learn about potential college and/or career paths, and much more.
